Calvin Mills hosts the Raymond Carver Podcast where he has interviewed major writers including Haruki Murakami, Billy Collins, TC Boyle, and 4-time Academy Award winning director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. Mills' own fiction often includes international settings and surreal influences grounded in literary style. He is the author of The Caged Man (a 2026 NIEA Finalist in Short Fiction) from Cornerstone Press (2025) and A Handful of Tragic Days, (Winner of the Eggtooth All Genre Chapbook Prize 2024). His work has appeared in Short Story, Weird Tales, Short Form Creative Writing: A Writer's Guide and Anthology from Bloomsbury, and dozens of other magazines. His work has accumulated a number of literary awards along the way, including a Meritorious Achievement Award as a playwright from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (2012). He teaches writing at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington. From writing musicals, fiction, and creative nonfiction, to convincing famous writers to share their writing advice, to a decade publishing a prize winning literary magazine, we will find plenty worth talking about. Mills is an engaging teacher and lecturer, drawing on a wide swath of experience with writers and writing.
