The Indie Excellence® Jurors Choice Award honors titles embodying the spirit of the competition as chosen by a celebrated author. The award consists of unrestricted of funds (though we suggest it be used for future marketing, distribution and PR efforts).

The 19th Annual Juror's Choice Prize will be awarded by Zoë Ruiz.

Zoë Ruiz is a writer, editor and creative coach. Her writing has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Joyland, The Millions, LitHub and Marketplace and has received assistance from Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and Oregon State University. Ruiz edited A Man of Two Faces and Nothing Ever Dies by Pulitzer Prize Winner Viet Thanh Nguyen. She also co-edited I, Witness, a Norton series of nonfiction books written by young people, for young people, and featured in the New York Times Sunday Book Review. During her one-on-one coaching sessions, she gently guides writers through blocks and deepens their confidence. She lives in Los Angeles where she was born and raised.
