14th Annual Jurors Choice Award

The Indie Excellence® Jurors Choice Award honors a title that embodies the spirit of the competition in all aspects with an unrestricted gift of funds (though we suggest it be used for
future marketing, distribution and PR efforts).

2020 Juror's Prize: Two Awards at $500.00 each

The 13th Annual Juror's Choice Prize will be awarded by Paul Shirley.

After graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering, Paul Shirley embarked on a nine-year professional basketball career that included stops on three NBA teams, five teams in Europe, and several minor league outfits, some of which even paid him on time.

While playing for the Phoenix Suns, Paul started a blog that led to a book deal with Random House. That book, Can I Keep My Jersey?, was released to wide acclaim in 2007. Paul has since written for Esquire, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, and for, a website he started.

Paul lives in Los Angeles, where he runs a writers’ workshop called Writers Blok and, where he serves as a writing coach, editor, and mentor. His second book, Stories I Tell I Dates, was released in 2017. He is currently at work on his third and fourth books.
