If you are a Winner or Finalist from any previous years, feel free to orders Stickers and Certificates at anytime.
The 2014 Winners and Finalists will be announced on May 15, 2014 and you can order stickers and certificates
at that time.
Please send one copy of the book per category entered. 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, 2013, 2014 publication dates are eligible. You can put all the categories in which you submit on one Submission Form but be sure to copy the submission form and put it in each book you submit in each category. All titles must have an ISBN and be published books.
*Indie Excellence is open to all English language books that are available for sale online and off.
We are not accepting e-books in 2014.
Winners and Finalists will be announced Nationally in May 2014 at the same time as Book Expo America.

As a winner or finalist you can highlight your award on your marketing materials. You can also both download the seal to print on your book and order stickers to put on each book you have already printed. Award stickers will be available for purchase as well as Certificates.
The Indie Excellence Winners & Finalists recognize the books that demonstrate an indefinable synergy of elements that makes for overall excellence.
We do not publish the names of the judges to respect their privacy.
The National Indie Excellence Awards selection committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any book.

OFFICIAL CATEGORIES OF THE 8th ANNUAL INDIE EXCELLENCE BOOK AWARDS®:
Also called "easy-to-read", these books are for children just starting to read on their own (age 6-8). They have color illustrations on every page like a picture book, but the format is more "grown-up" -- smaller trim size, sometimes broken into short chapters. The length varies greatly by publisher; the books can be 32-64 pages long, with 200-1500 words of text, occasionally going up to 2000 words. The stories are told mainly through action and dialogue, in grammatically simple sentences (one idea per sentence). Books average 2-5 sentences per page.
Traditionally, picture books (also called "picture story books") are 32-page books for ages 4-8 Manuscripts are up to 1500 words, with 1000 words being the average length. Plots are simple (no sub-plots or complicated twists) with one main character who embodies the child's emotions, concerns and viewpoint. The illustrations (on every page or every other page) play as great a role as the text in telling the story.

THE BOOKS SUBMITTED FOR THE 2013 CONTEST, WHICH JUST ENDED WENT TO 2 LIBRARIES IN WEST LOS ANGELES AND THE REST TO THE BEVERLY HILLS PUBLIC LIBRARY and they were very happy to receive them.
Indie Excellence submissions cannot be returned. Each entry must contain the official entry form, including your e-mail address and contact telephone number. All shipping and handling costs must be borne by entrants.
NOTIFICATION AND DEADLINES: We will notify each entry of the package's receipt via e-mail and will announce the winning entries on our web site (www.indieexcellence.com) . Because of the high volume of entries, we can only respond to e-mail inquiries. Winners in each category will be notified by e-mail and on the web site.
Published books from anywhere in the world are eligible as long as they are in English and able to be purchased in the United States.
